I'm a sucker for retro sounds, so I can't help but put a high mark there... It's not crazy good though (music is blah), so no 5. The game plays well, and James fixed two major control flaws that I pointed out a few hours before the deadline which made all the difference. The idea that you're building a tower and have to "solidify" it with the nails and cement stuff is a nice deviation from the normal line destruction of most tetris clones. Negative bits are wonky block rotation (they don't just rotate but also mirror from time to time which makes rotation a process of cycling through all possibilities until the block is magically in the right orientation) and the feeling that nail effects are a bit random. I don't think they are, but the rules for cement flow in combination with the block structure makes it too complex to actually consider while playing (imho). For me it was mostly "make the nail hit where most of the red blocks are". Oh, and I'm not sure what the criteria for defeat were... I just got game overized suddenly a bit into the sixth level (sure, I had built a pretty tall tower, but I hit no visible limit).

Just pressing downkey will get you far, 4th level or so for me... a mediocre game, nothing really new here.

A better explanation on how the nails work would be nice.

There's sounds and music, but it sounds like it's constantly running out of buffer. Maybe my PC is too slow. I'll just give it N/A for sound for now, and try it in Linux later. So, looks like a tetris clone, except the aim of the game is to build as high as possible. I just stacked one piece on top of another, which wasn't very fun. Maybe I played it wrong, but I couldn't see what else to do.

Acctually pretty cool game; Like a new spin on Tetris. Graphics are ok.

James Hofmann

This guy is obviously the greatest game developer ever.

Jay Ward

Something about it feels clunky. I can't put my finger on it though. But generally quite fun.

Jeremy Penner

There's a really interesting game in here someplace, clamouring to get out. Turning Tetris on its head is a great idea, but the time limit just doesn't work. Being able to hold down the down arrow and win is seriously game-breaking. Playing the way it's intended is fairly amusing, but it's hard to visualize what the nail is actually going to do. Maybe take a page from Bridge Builder and have the thing fall apart if the player's not building stably enough? Kind of like Tetris meets building a house of cards.

It's kind of like inversed tetris... you should have called it sirtet Won the first four levels by just holding down the down key, which wasn't very challenging. It seems to lack something to make it fun in the long run, but I'm afraid I can't point out what. Crashed (exited at least) when I put a nail in the ground.

I did like the basic premise of this game, but the design feels incomplete. I discovered I could get BP most easily just by building straight up, which wasn't very exciting. I liked the sound but it was smothered by a constant crackling sound - perhaps part of the music? I'm not sure. The finish level sound is great.

Mike Hommel

Took a chance turning Tetris all around... but unfortunately, I don't think it works. Seems like the best strategy is just to hold down the down key. There doesn't seem to be much of any incentive to build 'solid' (packing things in well). I guess it would make your nail combos bigger? The way the nails flow down is very strange, and doesn't always get stuff it seems like it should. It's a nice concept, but I wish it included some notion of trying to build a sturdy tower as opposed to just stacking pieces up as high as you want. Like if the goal were to reach a certain height, but it takes a certain amount of underpinning to hold up a piece above, and ones with nails are much sturdier. Something like that. As it is, it just doesn't quit come together as a game.

Phil Hassey

Interesting tetris variant.

Rale

Neat tetris look a like. With fresh block types. Not much new here tho..

A block building game kinda like Tetris, but you build vertically instead of horizontally. When a nail appears, it will earn you points based on how many connected blocks you've built so far. Get the required number of points to reach the next level. There is a lack of strategy though: since the play area extends upward indefinitely, one can just hold the down arrow and let the blocks stack up and get easy points. Music was making a crackling sound sometimes and sound effects were decent.

Deepflame

This reminded me off Tetris, but I couldn't figure out the goal of the game.
